Climbing wall award

Who is it suitable for?

The Climbing Wall Award (CWA) is an award for people who want to supervise groups on indoor and outdoor climbing walls and towers. We offer both the 2 day training course and 1 day assessment course.

What does the course consist of?

The CWA covers party supervision, safety and coaching movement skills. Please note that our CWA training course excludes the abseil module. Between training and assessment you must consolidate new ideas and techniques and gain additional climbing experience. Your trainer will advise you about the amount and nature of the personal climbing and supervising experience you should gain before Assessment.

What you need?

Equipment can be borrowed from the Provider

Before registration

Gain a minimum of 6 months personal climbing experience, climbing on artificial walls on at least 15 occasions and at 3 different climbing centres, using top ropes and lead climbing. Please keep a record of your climbing experiences.

How to register

Join a mountaineering council such as the British Mountaineering council, BMC at www.thebmc.co.uk
Purchase the CWA registration, logbook and handbook from Mountain Leader Training England, MLTE at www.mlte.org price £35.
You are now ready to book your Training Course.

Between training and assessment consolidate new ideas and gain additional climbing experience.

When can you do it?

Training course dates:

22nd & 23rd April 2010 Request a place

24th & 25th April 2010 Request a place

1 day will be held at The Leeds Wall and another at an alternative facility.

Prices

£120 for a 2 day training course, discount available for teachers.

£75 for a 1 day assessment
