Name: Rob How did you get into climbing? Well, I did start climbing when I was 15 but college and uni work took up alot of my free time over the next couple of years, so didn`t stick at it for long. One day I was watching Top Gear and Jeremy Clarkson was racing two climbers (Leo Houlding & Tim Emmett) up this HUGE cliff face in France. After that TV show I was totally inspired to get back into rock climbing so booked a re-fresher session at Leeds wall and I haven`t look back since. That was 5 years ago and since then i`ve travelled to and climbing in Thailand,
France, Spain, Mallorca, and Italy. It`s totally taken over my
life and any spare time i have I`m climbing or training to become a
better climber ! What kind of climbing do you like? I really like Sport climbing, I like the way you don`t need a lot of equipment, a rope and a dozen quickdraws is all you need. Also there is a lower risk of danger in Sport climbing so i`m able to push myself to the limit and climb harder grades compared to Trad climbing. One of the main things I do enjoy about climbing is the training, adapting your body to the power, endurance and skills required. What are your favourite climbs? If you`ve never done it, then you need to try Deep Water Soloing ! It`s awesome. The freedom of climbing but with the scary sensation that the water is below you and you will fall into it! One of the DWS hotspots is Mallorca and on a beach called "Cala Barque" is the best cave and the line "Metrosexual" 7a climbing over the main roof with cystal clear water below you. You really couldn`t ask for more!
