CLIMBING SERIES FINAL

Wall Junior Team Member Nathan Phillips finished Champion at the Final
of the British Youth Climbing Series at Westway Sports Centre on June
20th 2009. Nathan who was 15 on the day earned himself an
extra birthday present when he completed a memorable victory in the
senior boys category of the competition.
We
knew we were in for a good day when Nathan announced a bit too loudly
“that was easy” after flashing the first route. (only five other
competitors managed this). As always Nathan’s bouldering was strong
and he finished with joint second highest score. It was however, his
leading that won through when he climbed further than anyone else on
route 2 and was one of only two climbers to top out route 3. In the
end he achieved the top step of the podium by clear 12 points.
