Warning. Freeze/thaw effects on Yorkshire Limestone

Following the exceptionally cold winter and the freeze/thaw effect of the severe weather on many of our limestone cliffs it is reasonable to expect that weakening of blocky holds and flakes may be encountered almost anywhere this Spring. Crags such as Giggleswick, Castlebergh, Foredale and Robin Proctor's Scar are thought to be particularly vulnerable due to the geological make-up of these venues but the wings of Malham, Gordale and even Twistleton have been adversely effected after previous severe winters. Please take extra care and if possible remove or report any potentially loose holds to avoid danger to others.
